What This Test Measures

  • Total Testosterone

All the testosterone in your blood, both bound and free.

  • Free Testosterone

The small share of testosterone not bound to proteins, free for your body to use.

  • PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen)

A protein made by the prostate gland, normally present in the blood only in small amounts.

  • Estradiol

The main form of estrogen, present in every body.

  • Luteinizing Hormone (LH)

A pituitary hormone that helps regulate the ovaries and testes, including ovulation.

  • SHBG (Sex Hormone-Binding Globulin)

A liver protein that binds testosterone and estradiol, controlling how much is free to act.

  • Visceral Fat

An estimate of the fat stored around your internal organs.

The list of markers is from Choose Health's own Male Hormone Test page. The short descriptions are ours.

How It Works

  1. 1

    Collect your sample

At home, with the painless lancet in the kit. Four or five drops of blood are enough for every marker on this test.

  2. 2

    Send it to the lab

Post it back in the prepaid envelope that comes in the kit, from any USPS post office or drop box.

  3. 3

    Get your results

Results are shared securely online about 3–4 days after the lab receives your sample.

Choose Health states that all testing is performed by CAP- and CLIA-accredited laboratories.
